SCIENCE

In this subject, students will delve into the captivating world of science. They will have the chance to discover and explore the wonders of plants, animals, the human body, weather, and the solar system. Through engaging activities and hands-on experiments, they will gain a deeper understanding of these topics and develop a sense of curiosity about the natural world.

SOCIAL STUDIES

During Social Studies lessons, students will embark on fascinating journeys through ancient civilizations and learn about influential figures through inspiring biographies. They will also develop an appreciation for cultural diversity and learn about different traditions and celebrations. Social Studies aims to instill in students a sense of good citizenship, encouraging them to be responsible members of their communities.

ENGLISH

The English curriculum focuses on nurturing language skills essential for effective communication. Students will engage in grammar exercises to improve their understanding of sentence structure and language rules. They will also practice writing and develop their skills in constructing sentences and paragraphs. Reading comprehension activities will enhance their ability to understand and analyse different types of texts, while vocabulary exercises will expand their word knowledge and enable them to express themselves more effectively.

MATHEMATICS

The Mathematics curriculum in Grade 2 aims to cultivate students’ numeracy skills and logical thinking. ARTS & MUSIC

Artists utilize various techniques to represent environments and employ primary and secondary colors to evoke specific moods. The study extends to diverse painting subjects like landscapes, portraiture, and still life, providing insight into the breadth of artistic expression. SUBJECT: SCIENCE

Delving into the natural world encompasses identifying plant and tree components, understanding the process of photosynthesis, and recognizing the nutritional needs for plant growth. In the realm of animals, one explores food classifications, habitats, and life cycles. The study extends to human biology, encompassing body parts, healthy habits, and the life cycle. Observing and graphing weather phenomena, including temperature and forecasting, provides insights into meteorology. 

SUBJECT: SOCIAL STUDIES

The exploration of ancient history unfolds as students delve into the civilizations of China, Egypt, Rome, and other historical epochs. Biographies become a focal point, featuring notable figures such as Ruby Bridges and Alexander Graham Bell. The chapter expands to encompass diverse holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving, providing insights into cultural celebrations. Students also explore various communities, including homes, schools, transportation, and relationships with friends and neighbours. 

SUBJECT: ENGLISH

This section serves as an introduction to fundamental language elements for students, covering parts of speech, punctuation, and related concepts. Writing prompts are incorporated to inspire students to construct sentences, paragraphs, or longer texts, fostering their writing skills. Specifically designed for second-grade students, this section aims to enhance word usage and spelling proficiency. The focus extends to vocabulary improvement, exploring compound words, synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, homophones, and prefixes/suffixes.

SUBJECT: MATHEMATICS

This section aims to enhance students’ foundational numeracy skills, boosting confidence in reading and writing numbers. Through the application of place value concepts, students practice composing and decomposing numbers. Topics covered span from basic addition of single-digit numbers to more complex addition in columns with regrouping. SUBJECT: PHYSICAL EDUCATION

The physical education curriculum focuses on teaching and practicing fundamental movement skills essential for a child’s development, including running, jumping, hopping, skipping, throwing, catching, and kicking. Various activities are designed to enhance hand-eye coordination and gross motor skills, utilizing items like bean bags, hula hoops, and soft balls for engaging exercises.
